Housing

Housing

The City of Lockport Housing Authority (CLHA) offers two types of housing assistance – Public Housing and Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8).

Our agency is committed to serving eligible families and will not discriminate on the grounds of age, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status.

Public Housing

Public Housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities. Public Housing units are owned and managed by the CLHA and are available in a range of bedroom sizes. Residents pay no more than 30 percent of their household’s monthly income for rent and utilities.

Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program

Housing Choice Vouchers allow very low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities to choose and lease safe, decent, and affordable privately-owned rental housing. The participant is free to choose any housing that meets the requirements of the program and is not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects. Participants generally pay 30 percent of their monthly household income towards rent and utilities.
